St. Louis resident Betty Franklin has filed a lawsuit against her local Moran Foods and Save-A-Lot for negligence in causing a slip and fall accident. According to the complaint filed, Franklin had just entered the East St. Louis store location when she slipped and fell on a foreign substance that had accumulated on the store's floor.

The lawsuit alleges negligence on the part of the Save-A-Lot and accuses the store of failing to ensure that the premises was properly inspected, allowing the substance to remain on the floor without proper hazard warning signs and not having a procedure in place to deal with the cleaning of the substance. The fall caused Franklin a number of injuries that resulted in pain, medical expenses and lost wages. She also expects that her injuries might also negatively impact her future earning capacity.

As a result of her fall, Franklin is seeking upwards of $50,000 dollars in damages in addition to the costs of retaining counsel for her lawsuit.
