West Virginia Shooting Results In Wrongful Death Suit

WDTV.COM - January 13, 2016

The estate of a woman who was shot to death by a Monongalia County sheriff's deputy has filed a wrongful death lawsuit. The lawsuit was filed this week in the Monongalia County Circuit Court by Gregory S. Farmerie, the estate administrator, against the sheriff's office and several others.

The deceased, Christie Cathers, was shot last June during a pursuit. The deputies named in the suit were responding to a report of someone brandishing a knife when Cathers attempted to flee and the two officers fired into her moving vehicle, killing her.

A grand jury has not yet brought charges against the two deputies involved in the shooting.
