Carnival Ride Company Accused Of Negligence

Beaumont Enterprise - October 05, 2015

The family of April Corley has filed a wrongful death suit against the Wright’s Amusements company after a deadly accident in September of 2014.

At the Texas Rice Festival, where April Corley was working, an improperly repaired support brace snapped, causing a large section of the Monster Trucks ride to fall on Corley, causing her death. The family is seeking damages for loss of economic support, grief and mental anguish.

The suit accuses Wright’s Amusements of failure to properly train its employees, providing an unsafe work environment, gross negligence and neglecting to properly repair their carnival equipment. OSHA reports that the ride in question was improperly repaired, with an essential support brace having been welded back together instead of replaced.
