Settlement Reached In Peanut Death Suit

A judge has approved a settlement in a case involving a Chesterfield, VA girl, Amarria Denis Johnson. Johnson, who was severely allergic to peanuts, died from a severe allergic reaction to peanuts that were given to her by a fellow classmate during recess. 

The child’s mother filed a wrongful death lawsuit. This lawsuit initally sought over $10 million dollars in damages. The wrongful death suit was filed against both county employees and the state.

Now an official settlement has been reached. In the final settlement approved by the Circuit Court judge, Amarria Denis Johnson's mother has been awarded $662,500 dollars in compensation.
