A lawsuit has been filed after a 2015 accident that left three construction workers in North Carolina dead after the collapse of a scaffolding unit. The wrongful death lawsuit names a number of defendants, including Associated Scaffolding Company Inc., Choate Construction Company, and several others, some of which have already been fined by the North Carolina Department of Labor.

The lawsuit alleges that several protocols for operating the scaffold were not followed by the contractors. It also states that Choate was behind on the job and pushed Associated Scaffolding to take down the scaffold unit in a single day, compromising the safety of those on the job site.

Three men, Anderson Antones de Almeida, Jose Luis Lopez-Ramirez, and Jose Erasmo Hernandez, were killed when the scaffolding collapsed and they fell from the 11-story building in downtown Raleigh.
